The number of shooting victims across England and Wales has risen to 2,247, the Guardian has learnt.
Of the 1,059,929 recorded in 2015, 1,063,000 were victims as a whole- of people shot in England and Wales.
Nearly a quarter (25pc) of those killed in police operations suffered no injury or death.
A similar number of victims were also shot while carrying out arrests for violence offences.
The figures are the latest in a string of reports to the Guardian which have come under scrutiny over violence at London’s police stations.

The figures came in a series of reports which were published last month to coincide with the London Bridge terror attacks.
A total of 1,031 people have so far been shot by police since a violent incident at an Borough Market on 27 August last year.
This includes more than 30 fatal shootings of officers during policing.
The Guardian contacted seven police stations in England and Wales about the number of people shot.
They all said they had reported two or more people to police as a result of encounters over the last few weeks, though some said that only two or three.
Police say, however, that the incidents which happened at such police stations were not a deliberate plot.
The reports to the police watchdog said the figures were very, very rare, suggesting the number of individuals killed may be too low.
