The British Gas Authority says it expects to receive up to 6m a year from its hydro projects as part of its hydro-related grants after it was granted 2.5m of these in 2012.

It says its major hydro projects in Scotland, including its planned RD facility on the BHP Billiton and Scottish Power Generation project sites in the North East will generate up to 1.5bn, compared with 4bn the company expected for its main hydro projects in the south east and the South East.

It says the Scottish Government intends to continue investing more in its projects in areas such as Scotland’s main hydro projects in the North East and Wales by 2020 rather than the current funding pattern.

The Scottish Government will provide 200m from its hydro development programme, including 200m in the 300m investment in South Wales. It has also announced an 850m 1.3bn development funding deal to the Scottish Government which was reported in March.

The Scottish Government will continue to pay to the Scottish Government for research, development and sustain-ment projects in Scotland including its 18m new gas pipeline project in the B1 project currently under construction at the Northern Water station in Dundee that will link northern Scotland with south-east England in the runup to Brexit, as well as the RD facilities in Scotland.
