The Scottish Government told us that they’d have little choice but to give British Gas the go-ahead to pay 45m for their boiler.

However, the process of asking the state to give ‘a big amount of money’ will run into some very tricky hurdles.

A spokesperson said ‘The Scottish Government will begin the process of setting-up a committee to study the boiler grant process and give UK Gas 45m.

‘When we hear from the Government it will be up to us to determine if we are getting an important grant. Any proposals will be reviewed and if we do get a grant we’ll be able to offer to the Scottish Government in their budget.

‘This is an early stage process and we should discuss all options we have and give our application to the Scottish Government within weeks.

‘As early as we can, there will be a decision on how we want to proceed with the project. We should be fully informed as soon as we have a good answer in place to help us make this possible.’

The Scottish Government have been told that their grant should be due after the summer. However, this will only take place if the government agrees to pay UK Gas 45m. That would mean the boiler could stay until it can be built at a new site for 50m.

So what There is a big difference that the Government will have to deal with if they get a grant for a boiler.

It is the big one, but it is not the big one.

Once British Gas receives the grant, it will have to deal with whether their grant should be granted to them or not.
